Gym Etiquette

I am  huge into etiquette. I love all things proper and have quite a collection of Emily Post books. However, I think I need to contact her on writing one about gym etiquette. People seriously need to learn manners. Let me tell you the kind of people I have come in contact with...

  • Treadmill Stalker- the person who stalks out those who look like they are finishing and then jump as soon as you hit stop. Don't mind me; I was just going to clean it for you first. But go right ahead.
  • Late comer aerobics girl- the girl who shows up late to aerobics class and then proceeds to set-up right in front of you... seriously? Class started 15minutes ago.
  • Show off girl- oh you know, the girl who is like teacher's pet and make sure everyone in the class knows that she knows the routines better than the teacher
  • Peachtree Runner- the girl next to you who proudly steps on the treadmill and immediately sets her run to 7.5 and runs twice the distance as you going a normal speed of 4.0. Not to mention, her looking over at your treadmill
  • Non-existing personal space- this always happens in Zumba. Just because there is an inch of room beside me... it is not a welcome invitation to stand so close I cannot dance.
The gym is my new favorite place for people watching. It helps the workout go faster and enjoy a few laughs along the way. I have been talking more classes, which I figure is the reason I have seen the lack of etiquette. I guess you notice things a lot more.

5K training is coming along... just need to get new tennis shoes :)

  1. I know what you mean about Zumba classes. There is a large enough space for people to dance on the other side of the room, why must they stand so close to me! In addition to that why can't they understand creating "windows" between people like we did when we were in ballet classes as children. Oh etiquette. Good luck with your 5k training!
