Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!!

I had big plans to blog about Christmas and many other things before we began 2012, but it did not happen. Maybe I will get around to blogging about it just so I can remember the wonderful holidays we had.

But, it is a new year. I have never been a person to sit and make a list of goals/resolutions for the new year. I kinda of saw it as just writing down things I slacked on in the past year and know I will slack again towards the end of this year... such is life.

However, while we were celebrating New Year's with a group of friends, we discussed what our word would be for this year. A word that you are trying to live out. Not trying to list 10 things you are going to change, but rather a word that sums up your plans for the new year.

What word did I pick? Enjoy!  Remember this post when I explained how I got the name for my blog? Well I can't exactly say that I slowed down to actually enjoy the things around me. I got in my normal way-to-busy-can't-so-no mode and just lived each day appointment to appointment. Literally. I would have to schedule dinner with friends for 3 weeks out because that is when I had a free night.

I can promise you it is exhausting. When you open your calendar and you are more exhausted looking at the things to come than you are excited about the actual event. It was not far to my relationships, my friends or family to keep going the same speed I was going.

So as we sat around the bonfire New Year's Eve, the word Enjoy just kept coming back.

I want to

Enjoy where I am
Enjoy the people around
Enjoy being spontaneous
Enjoy God's creation
Enjoy taking care of myself

So, step one. Make time to exercise. I know, this is EVERYONE'S goal. And I can tell you that because the gym is packed. But, I am committed. My friends all decided to sign-up for a 5k the end of March. I was finding every excuse not to participate, but not any more. I now have a friendly app to help me train for the 5k and I look forward in hearing the voice tell me when to run or walk. It is like having my own coach.

Making time to exercise is helping me Enjoy Life. Because being so tried and rundown is not going to help me see the beautiful people around me or the beautiful landscape God has created. It is also teaching me to say no and make time for myself. Not something I am usually good at doing.

I promise to keep you updated as the training continues. But I do know, some people need to learn some gym etiquette!

Happy 2012 and Enjoying Life!
